3 8 o CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. A ugust 27, 1908. TH E PH ILAD ELPH IAN S. 14 t h M a tc h .— v . DURHAM. Played at Sunderland on August 24 and 25. Philadelphians won by 106 runs. 1 he wicket on Monday was so much in favour of the attack that the home side, upon winning the toss, put the Philadelphians in. During the day twenty-one wickets fell for 225 runs. Adams played a fine game for his 56, and in partnership with Lester put on 49 for the sixth wicket. The county, facing a total of 122, were disposed of forS5, Hordern proving very difficult. A feature of the innings was the wicket-keeping of \\ inter, who dismissed four men. At the end of the day the visitors made 18 for the loss of King, consequently being 55 runs on with nine wickets in hand. Although no play was possible on Tuesday until after lunch, scoring ruled so low that the match was finished the same afternoon, the Philadelphians winning by 100 runs. Adamson and King bowled with great effect, the former’s six wickets costing 30 runs and the latter’s only 12. Score and analysis :— T iie P h il a d e l p h ia n s . First innings. Second innings. J.
