WESTERN PROVINCE v. NATAL. Played at Newlands on January 4, 6 , and 7. FINE BATTING BY NOURSE. Drawn. Unlike the previous meeting of the two sides, this match produced heavy run-getting, as many as 1,160 being made for the loss of 33 wickets. In the first innings of Western Province Lewis and During made 92 for the first wicket and Carolin and Conry 139 for the eighth, whilst in the second Difford and Carolin put on 133 for the fourth. Natal were set 398 to get in five hours. Nourse, going in second wicket down, at 43, carried out his bat for 200 made out of 258 in 250 minutes. He made some splendid on-drives and square cuts, and offered only one chance— a difficult one to Whitehead off Difford when 197. With J. J. Bisset he added 98 for the third wicket and with Morris exactly 100 after the fall of the sixth. S6ore and analysis W estern P rovince . First innings. P. T. Lewis, b Carter , ... 55 J. P.
