The County’s last five w ickets went dow n for 57 runs, but the side never theless obtained the very useful lead of 51 on the innings. On Friday there was only two hours’ play, on account o f rain, n o start being possible before half-past four. On the soft w icket runs came readily. On Saturday W ood and K in g indulged in a bright partnership, causing many changes in the bowling. W ood com pleted his hundred in tw o hours and a half, and altogether m ade 132 before being caught at slip. H e batted 200 m inutes, gave no chance, and hit a 6 and nioeteen 4’s.
