Hatfeild as captain of Eton, is a fine all-round athlete who has distinguished O n e P e n n y . which year he scored 33 against Harrow and averaged 18.33 f°r the season ; he did not play in the Winchester match. Last year there was a marked advance in his batting ; he scored 21 and 37 v. Winchester, 74 v. I Zingari, and 74 and 43 v. Harrow, his average being as high as 38.22 On Mr. A. H. Lang, the Harrow captain, is an excellent wicket-keeper and a good bats­ man. He received his first insight into the game at Warren Hill School, Eastbourne, where such well-known players as Eric WT. Benson, won the mile race for Oxford in the University Sports of 1870 and the three miles two years later, and in 1874 played forward in the Association football match against Cambridge in 1874. R. L. Benson obtained his colours at Eton in 1906, in Friday last he made 51 against Winchester, and if he once settles down to-morrow he is very likely to score heavily. His batting is attractive and forward in style, and he makes the majority of his runs on the off­ side, driving and cutting very well indeed.
