Cricket 1908

J u ly 2 , 1908 . CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 25S SOU TH HAM PSTEAD WEEK. Glorious weather favoured the South Ham pstead C.C. on the occasion of their annual Week, and, as was to be expected w ith the excellent w ickets pre pared b y their able groundsm an, H aw ksw orth, the scoring was very prolific, over 3,000 runs being recorded during the week. In the m atch on Monday, June 22, against Belsize C.C., 670 runs were scored in 5.j hours, this being easily the record score for the ground for a one day m atch. A stley’s innings of 127, played on Friday, was a fine exhibition of hard hitting and correct placing, and included five 6 ’s. Saturday’s m atch, v. W altham stow, proved a very exciting gam e, and was evidently m uch appreciated by the large num ber of spectators present. Good cricket was played by both sides, and the result, a w in ju st on tim e for the hom e team, w as a fitting finish to the w eek’s cricket. Charles Thornhill scored a clever 123 not out in this m atch. A very enjoyable ai fresco concert, arranged by Messrs. Besch and Belcham ber, was held on the ground after the match. The results are appen ded:— SOUTH H AM PSTEAD v. B E LSIZE .—Played at W illesden Green on June 22. C. H ow ard, b Pudde- f o o t ..................................40 J. D.
