Schwarz and Lindsay, however, put 011 74 for the second wicket, and the latter and Stanton 78 for the third. Schwarz played free but lucky cricket, and Stanton also gave a chance. Lindsay, who was fourth out, made 80 out of 162 in two hours ; he hit four 4’s in his excellent display, and was bowled in trying to pull. No one else reached double • figures, Wallace taking three wickets in an over, and the innings closed for 184. Apart from Lawrence and Fock, who played confi dent cricket, the home batsmen fared badly against Vogler, who took eight wickets for 16 runs in the innings of 90. Rain interfered with play consider ably on the second day, but the visitors managed to bring about a definite result. Lindsay and Zulch put up 81 for the first wicket, and the latter, who made some big hits, including a 6 and five 4’s, added 61 for the second. The innings was declared with four out for 164, after which Vogler proceeded to repeat his success in the former innings of the home side. Score and analysis :— T he T r a n sv a a l T eam . At this time of the season the former find no little difficulty in getting hand, eye and feet to work in unison; the personal equation is lop-sided and bigger than it should be. Hence the bowlers’ results must be taken somewhat at a discount.” —L. O. S. Poidevin in the Daily Exjiress. The AMERICAN CRICKETER. F ounded 1877. Published by H. H.
