M b . H. O l l iv ie r e e . Mr. Helon Ollivierre, a member of the well-known cricketing brotherhood of St. Vincent, died on February 23rd at the early age of 25. His illneBS, a liver complaint, was of short duration. He represented St. Vincent against Lord Brackley’s Team, and, in the only two innings he had, scored 45 in the first match and 47 in the return. Thompson, of the Yaralla C.C., died suddenly on March 2nd, in his fifty-third year. He was tahiDg part in a match at Concord Park, and, having just finished his innings, was walking to the Pavilion, which faces bis residence, when he was seen to drop his bat and falter. Though medical assist­ ance arrived, he died two hours later of Bright’s disease. He was an old Sydney Grammar School boy, and a very great lover of the game. At Concord he was prominent in all public movements, having been Mayor and Alderman. E a r th q u a k e V ictim s . At a meeting of the Senior Cup Com­ mittee held at Sabina Park on March 20th. the following resolutions were “ That this Committee desires to express its deep sorrow at the death of so many cricketers and supporters of the game in the great catastrophe of the 14th January last, and to place on record its sense of the great loss thereby sustained by the game, and par­ ticularly by the removal from our midst of Dr. J. M. Gibb, Captain of the Kensington C.O., Mr. A . R. Smith, Captain Lucas C .C ., Mr. R. D . Honiball, vice captain of the Kingston C.C., Major W . H. Hardyman, of the Garrison C.C., and Mr. W . A. Paine, member of the Jamaica Cricket Council, and one of the oldest and most ardent supporters of the game in the island; and begs to tender to the relatives of the deceased gentlemen its sincere sympathy and condolence. And further, that, as a mark of respect to the memory of these gentlemen and of other members of the clubs taking part in the Jamaica Cricket Cup Competition who lost their lives on the 14th January, be it resolved that the Competition be suspended for the present season, and that the Cup be engraved “ 1907, no competition on account of earth­ quake of 14th January, 1907.” That a copy of these resolutions be sent to each of the clubs in the Competition and to the relatives of the above named five gentlemen.” M r. R . W . B radley , a well-know n figure in K ingston cricket circles, was also among the killed. ^Dr. J . M. Gibb, the captain of the K en­ sington C.C., played for Jamaica against Mr. R. S. Lucas’s team in 1895, Mr. A. Priestley’ s in 1897, and Mr. Bosanquet’s in 1902. M a jo r W . H . H ardym an’s death was noted in Cricket of January last. Mr. R . D. A. P a in e was a great supporter of the game in the W est Indies. Mr. A . R. Sm ith was captain of the Lucas C.C., the champion team of Jamaica. Mr. B. L. V e rlk y , a useful bowler, appeared for Jamaica against Mr. Lucas’ s team in 1895 and Mr. Priestley’ s two years later. THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE. At the meeting of the Advisory Com­ mittee, at Lord’s, on Monday last, Lord Harris took the chair ia the unavoidable absence of the Rt. Hon. W. H. Long, President of the M.C.C.
