On February 18th the M .C.C. played a drawn game against XX. of Wellington, at Christchurch. On February 20th the M.C.C. beat X Y . of Wairarapa by an innings and 87 runs, at Masterton. The meeting of these sides at Ballygunge on January 24 resulted in a very pronounced success for the home side, who at one period of their innings made 280 in an hour and a half. Altogether, 450 runs were scored in four hours. The Indian Field records that “ in four days at Ballygunge, no less than 1,671 runs have been scored, a fact that speaks well for both the wicket and the out- fielding.’ ?
