Played at Glasgow on July 18 and 19. THREE INDIVIDUAL HUNDREDS IN AN INNINGS. The South Africans won hy an innings and 371 runs. After meeting Surrey and Yorkshire, the South Africans played a holiday match against a Scotch team at Partick, Glasgow. The tourists, although not represented by their strongest team, won in the easiest fashion by an innings and 371 runs. On the first day they made 466 for five wickets in 265 minutes. Shalders, who drove well and hit seven 4’s, helped to make 82 for the first wicket in 55 minutes, but White did little and was second out at 107. When Nourse partnered Tancred the bowling was quickly mastered, and during the 95 minutes the pair were together 167 were put on for the third wicket. Tancred was then bowled for 119, made out of 274 in 170 minutes; he drove and cut with much power, hit a 6 (a drive out of the ground off Nixon) and fourteen 4’s, and gave only one chance—to Barbour at cover-point when 69. Nourse, in scoring 105 out of 233 in two hours and ten minutes, made no mistake: he hit fourteen 4’s, and, in partnership with Faulkner, added 66 in half-an-hour. The last-named and Snooke put on 89 in 40 minutes, and Faulkner and Vogler 37 without being separated in a-quarter of an hour. Faulkner, who carried out his bat for 78, was missed by Broadbent in the loner-field just before stumps were drawn. On Friday, Vogler was out l.b.w. when the sixth wicket had realised 69 in 30 minutes, and 15 runs later Faulkner was dis posed of in a precisely similar manner: the last- named hit sixteen 4’s, the majority of them powerful drives, and scored 107 out of 239 in 110 minutes. Snooke and Robinson failed to reach double figures, but at the end of the innings Smith and Kotze hit up 42 in a-quarter of an hour, the total of 573 taking only 325 minutes to make. The home side’s fielding was very poor, as, indeed, was all their cricket. Tait’s batting alone excepted. The Scotch team fared disastrously against Kotze and Nourse. Their first four wickets went down for 26, and had it not been for Tait the collapse would have been altogether remarkable. With Lyle he added 21 for the fifth wicket, and with Maxwell 17 for the ninth. In the short time of 85minutes the whole side were disposed of for 68, and were called upon to follow-on 505 in arrears. In their second innings they gave an im proved display, remaining in for 100 minutes and scoring 134. Tait, who went in third wicket down, carried out his bat for 55. In the whole match Kotz<? took a dozen wickets for 86 runs. The South Africans won by an innings and 371 runs. Score and analysis:— S outh A fricans . L. J. Tancred, b Tait 119 W. A.
