On Thursday not a ball was bowled owing to rain, and on Friday only 59 runs were made for a couple of wickets, of which number Langdon (batting 55 minutes) claimed 40 not out. Winstone was in twenty minutes ere making a run, but succeeded in keeping his wicket intact until play ceased for the day. On Saturday the game was resumed at twenty minutes past noon, and Langdon, after batting 95 minutes and hitting nine 4’s, was bowled for a fault less innings of 68. With five wickets down for 139 the innings was declared closed. Somerset, after losing half their wickets for 14, did as well as could be expected in making 72, Dennett taking six wickets for 37. In their second innings Gloucester shire hit up 17 in half-an-hour and again applied the closure, leaving the vi-itors 115 to win in 75 minutes. At one time it appeared likely that Gloucestershire would pull off the match, six wickets falling for 54: but Bisgood and Deane afterwards remained together for 35 minutes and saved their side. When stumps were drawn, Somerset, with two wickets in hand, required 13 to win. Score and analysis:— GLOUCESTERSHIRE. First innings. Second innings.
