Cricket 1907

J une 20, 1907. CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 215 in the match at Lord’s with the M.C.C. and Ground wherein Lyons played his historic innings of 149. Including his appearances in England, McLeod took part in six Test matches, making 146 runs with an average of 13*27 and securing a dozen wickefs for 32 runs apiece. Upon returning to Australia he continued to play in great iratches for a few years, hut without meeting with quite as much success as was anticipated. He was a correct left-handed batsman with strokes all round the wicket, and a right-hand medium-paced bowler, breaking both ways : he relied, however, chiefly upon his length and change of pace to secure him his wickets. He was a good field and a safe catch. S ir J . W . H o n y w o o d , B a r t . Sir John VV. Honywood, 8ih Bart., who died at Folkestone on Tuesday last, was President of the Kent County C.C. in 1893. He was born on April 15th, 1857. His father—Sir Courtney Honywood, 7th Bart.— who died on April 17th, 1878, was one of the original members of the Band of Brothers. The Honywoods are connected by marriage with the Knatchbulls, and through them with the Knights, Deedes, Marshams, Sondes, and Bridges, all of whom have been prominently associated with Kent cricket.
