Warner contributes an interesting article entitled “ Don’ts for Captains.” The advice he gives should prove very instructive to young cricketers. T h e inclement weather has much to be responsible for. A short time ago a new club was formed near Brighton, and the members were to have indulged in a trial match yesterday. Believing, however, that the bad weather would continue, they arranged beforehand that they should toss, not for choice of innings, but whether they should play the match as arranged or—go to the Brighton Hippo drome ! They might have saved them selves some uncertainty had they agreed to decide the result of the game by a spin of the coin. J. R. M. M ackay , who recently settled in South Africa, was a short time ago the victim of a very serious accident. He was knocked down by a motor-cycle, and was rendered unconscious for six days. It is feared that when, he recovers his eye-sight will probably be found so affected as to prevent him from ever again showing the form he has done of recent years. Cricketers in all parts of the world will unite in hoping that such fears will prove groundless. T he following are some of the latest hundreds:— MAY. 22. W. Whitaker, Mimico Asylum v.
