Four of last year’s eleven will again be available, viz., B. H. Holloway (Captain), a good medium-fast bowler and a fine bat, who made over 700 runs last season ; his brother, N. J. Holloway, a good bat, especially on the off-side, and a useful medium-paced bowler; S. H. Smith, the Hon. Secretary, who is a promising bat ; and >. B. Quibell, a slow leg-break bowler who keeps his length extraordinarily well, and has started the season by taking eight wickets in the first match. There is, how ever, no really good fast bowler, although both Cooper and Beckett may be of use. Tie fielding, so far, has been excellent, the Captain, who won the fielding sash last year, setting a good example. MAY. 4. Home, v. Tom Tits 16. Home, v. Christ’s College IS. Furneaux, the Captain, and H.W. Ling. There are, however, promising batsmen in J. H. B. Sullivan, W. St J. Pym, and F. L. Newton, but the bowling is weak, although Wratislaw, Roupell, and Powell are promising. Matches with Loretto and Shrewsbury are included in the pro gramme. MAY. 18. Rossall, v. Lytham 2nd XI. 29. Old Rossallians* * Two-day Matches * As S hrewsbury have eight old choices to call upon, their team should be very strong this year. The eight are H. Forman, who got into the team in 1904, and was Captain in 1905 and 1906, and will once again lead the side ; R. V. Bardsley and G. B. M. Bremner, who got into the team in 1905 ; and A. Whale, G. N. Whitehead, N. Zimmern, J. Baron, and R. Burton, who all got their colours last year. With three places to fill up, one will doubtless be given to a fast bowler, as V. G. Leake and E. G. Pauli have both left. This year the Ro3£all match will be at Shrewsbury; last year Shrewsbury managed to win an exciting match, at Rossall, by 2 runs. The prospects for this season seem to be very good. MAY. 22. v. Rock Ferry 29. v. E. G. Pauli’s XI. JUNE. 1. v. Exeter College, Oxford 5. v. Shropshire Gentlemen 8. v. Birkenhead Park 11. v.
