S ib ,—I observe, fromthe account given in your columns of the Banquet to the Kent Eleven at the Hotel Cecil, that so well-known anold stager as Mr. W. South Norton seriously suggests that bowlers should be allowed to jerk and throw. I cannot help feeling that had Mr. Norton stood up to one or two who can really throw he might alterhis opinion. White head, of Leicestershire, is a lightning thrower (from a 23 or 24 yards range), and seeing him give one or two of the county eleven a little practice in that way, Ranjitsinhji asked him to throw a few up. He hit the great batsman’s stumps far more frequently than Ranji touched the ball, and probably there was never a player with such an eye or one who could follow the ball so closely upto the bat. Yours faithfully, One Who Can S p e a k from Experience. November 21si.
