During the past three seasons the run-getting properties of the Worcester wicket have increased by over fifty-seven and a-half per cen t! At Scarborough, although the average num ber of runs per wicket was as much as 37*46, two of the three matches played there were concluded. A ll three games took place during the Festival, and each resulted in over eleven hundred runs being scored. At Edgbaston, too, scoring has been very high, as many as 34*40 runs being made for every wicket lost: the average was 32*13 in 1905, 30-40 in 1904, and 29*32 in 1899. In 1904 the average for the Trent Bridge ground was 35*85, which in the following season had fallen to 30*02. This year a still further decrease is to be recorded with 28*97 runs per wicket, although, curiously enough, there were two instances during the season of a batsman obtaining two separate hundreds in a match there.
