In his admirable compilation Fifty Years Reminiscences of Scottish Cricket , Mr. D. D. Bone refers to A History of Cricket in Perth by Robert Hailey. In a reply to my inquiry on the subject Mr. Hailey writes: “ The History of Cricket in Perth , by myself, has no being. I cannot understand how or why Mr. Bone mentions there is such a work, and regret you have been needlessly caused the trouble of writing.” Tne Canadian Cricket Field for September 27th, 1882, announced that an Annual of Canadian Cricket would be published on December 20th of that year, at 25 cents., but owing to the demise of their journal, the annual never saw the light. ‘ ‘ A. J. G.” , in his Synopsis of Sussex Cricket mentions that Sussex Cricket: Its History from llb 0 to the Present Time (1887) was in course of preparation, but the intended volume was not issued ; whilst in his Bibliography of Cricket , Mr. Gaston includes Yorkshire Cricket and Cricketers , by the Rev. R. S. Holmes (1895), whijh, on the authority of the latter gentleman, was never published in book form. In 1849 W. H. Mason issued a circular announcing the publication of an Illustrated Cricketers ’ Journal , devoted expressly to cricket, and produced in a style of art equal to the best of the illustrated journals, but owing to the loss sustained in producing tho national print of a cricket match between Sussex and Kent, the venture was abandoned. \Y. Denison, in an intro duction to his Cricketer's Companion makes a preliminary announcement of a complete History of Cricket , which likewise fell to the ground ; while works announced on the West Indian Tour of 1897, by M. C. Work, and the Philadelphian Tour of 1889, by D. S. Newhall, shared a liko fate. That gifted writer, the late Mr. Charles Box, is fre quently referred to as the author of Essays on the Game , and C>icket Songs and Poemsy but these must have been magazine articles. Certainly they were never issued in book form. How's That , Umpire? by “ Chilo3n,” has no connection with the gime. APPENDIX II. ADDENDA. About Trumper’s Team. Queensland Tour, 1906. li. S.
