Cricket 1906

M ay 31, 1906. CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF. THE GAME. 107 f bowled, but themistake did not prove very expensive. When rain, at half-past five, caused stumps to be drawn, the visitors had made 35 for four wickets, the game then being in a very even state. War wickshire’s bowling and fielding were very good. Friday’s play was noticeable for a fine innings by Hirst, who was seen at quite his best on the slow wicket. He made 104 without a mistake out of 163 in 195 minutes, hitting eleven 4’s and six 3’s, and, so marked was his success, that nobody else on the side succeeded in making as many as 30. The innings closed for 190, Hargreave taking six wickets for 81. In a minority of 57, Warwickshire com menced fairly well, Kinneir and Devey, as in the first innings, scoring 37 together for the opening partnership. Quaife and George were both dis missed l.b.w. by Haigh, who disposed of them with consecutive balls. When played ceased for the day, Warwickshire were 57 runs ahead and had five wickets in hand. So much rain fell on Saturday that, at a quarter-past two, it was decided to abandon the match. It will be noticed that only one amateur took part in the match. Score and analysis:— W arwickshire .
