Played at Trent Bridge on Aug. 17, 18 & 19. Drawn. The Middlesex bowling does not seem very for midable this August, and it failed to make much impression on the Notts batsmen in this match. When stumps were drawn on the first day Notts had scored 383 for the loss of three wickets only. For this they were largely indebted to a fine stand for the first wicket by A. O. Jones, who has found his form again, and Iremonger, the two men putting up 117-in a little over an hour. Another long partner ship, producing 150 for the second wicket in an hour and fifty minutes, followed between Jones and G. Gunn, and when the former was out he had a score of 123 to liis credit. The two Gunns played well, John Gunn with great steadiness, and George with some amount of freedom. When stumps were drawn the former was not out 54. There was only an hour and a half available for play on Friday on account of rain, and the game was not resumed until half past four. Notts added 35 to their~total for the loss of two more wickets, and then declared. Before stumps were drawn Middlesex scored 40 for the loss of J. Douglas. On Saturday Middlesex struggled, hard, and succeeded in bringing about a drawn game, being 48 runs to the good with a wicket in hand when stumps were drawn. Tarrant played two fine innings, while Trott and Bosanquet also distinguished themselves, the former hitting nine 4’s in his 45. N otts . A. O.
