THURSDAY, AUG. 3 rd , 1905. $a\)titon The abstract and brief chronicle of the time.— Hamlet O n Thursday last week Rhodes scored his thousandth run, having taken his hundredth wicket some time ago. He is the first and only man who has accom plished both feats this year. Cook, the bowler who made his debut in the Lancashire eleven last week against Gloucestershire, is a Lancashire man by birth, having been born at Preston. He is right hand, medium to fast, with an easy action, which does not seem at all tiring. He took seven wickets for 64. He had previously played for the Lanca shire second eleven with success.
