Cricket 1905

2S0 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. J uly 27, 1905. In England Kelly’s batting record for a season is 768, with an average of 23 27 and a highest score of 103, against Warwick shire. This was in 1899. In 1896 he made 490 runs, with a highest ecore of 45 and an average of 16' 10. During the last tour (1902) he made 368 runs, with a highest score of 75, against Lancashire at Manchester, and an average of 14-72. It is said that he has always a keen desire to go on to bowl, and in the match against Fifteen of Scotland last week he was given an opportunity of t r y iD g his skill. His analysis was two overs, no maidens, seven runs, no wickets. But he was no-balled twice for throwing, although it is rumoured that this was the result of a conspiracy. When he went on at Glasgow Kelly was not making his debut as a bowler, for in the tour of 1899 he bowled three overs for 16 runs without taking a wicket, while in the tour of 1902 he distinguished himself with a record of four overs, no maidens, thirteen runs, and two wickets in the second innings against Scotland.
