Cricket 1905

180 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. J u n e 8 , 1905 on Sand Island, one of the Pescadores group, west of Formosa, on October 10 th, 1892, aged 30. On board were all the members—thir teen (unlucky number!) altogether —of the Hong-Kongteam, who were returning home after having played at Shanghai in the inter- Port match. They all perished, and amongst themwereQuarter-Master-Sergt. V. G.Jeffkins, K.E., formerly of Hampshire, and Major Turner, A.P.D., father of the well-known Essex batsman of to-day. In Trinity Cathe dral, Shanghai, in 1894, the members of the Shanghai C.C. unveiled, as a memorial of the disaster, one of the finest stained glass win dows to be seen in the East. The same year a tablet was placed to Captain Dunn’s memory in Harrow School Chapel. GRANVILLE “A” v. CROYDON (2).—Played at Croydon on June 3. C roydon (2). H. R.
