46 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. M ar . 31, 1904. M r . C h a r l e s M a r s h a l l . Mr. Charles Marshall, of the Rugby Elevens of 1860, 1861 and 1862, died on on the 25th ult. As he was born at Cricldewood, in Middlesex, on February 20tb, 1843, he was in his 62nd year at the time of his decease. H e was a sound batsman, a particularly fine field at lon g- leg and cover-point, and could throw the b ill over 100 yards with ease. He was contemporary at Rugby with C. Booth, B. B. Cooper, F. R . Evars, E. Rutter, M. T. Martin, G. P. Robertson, J. S. E. Hood and T. Case. In 1861 he made 53 v. Trinity College (Oxford), 53 v. The X X I I ., and 61 against the bow ling of Willsher and Diver for the X I . v. The X Y I. After leaving Ru gby he appeared for Cambridgeshire, Middlesex, Hunting donshire, M .C.C ., Free Foresters, etc. He assisted Middlesex on two occasions only, both times in 1866, scoriDg 33 against Cambridgeshire, at Cambridge, and 50 against Surrey, at the Oval. His height was 5ft. 8 Ln. and weight (in 1860) 10 st. 81bs. M r . G. H . C a m m e l l . Mr. G. H . Cammell,who twice appeared for Eton against Harrow, scoring 5 and 0 in 1870 and 46 not out in 1871, died early in March. Am ong his contempor aries were G. H . Longman, A. 8 . Tabor, Lord Harris, A. W . Ridley, A. T. Lyttel ton and F. M. Buckland. H a r r y B u t l e r . Harry Butler, landlord of the “ Swan iDn,” Sutton-in-Ashfield, died at his residence on the 2 0 th inst. at the age of 48. H e was in turn professional at Sutton, Sandhurst, Nottingham (with the Notts Commercial C.C.), Preston North End, East Lancashire and Burnley. H e was afterwards with the West of Scotland C.C. for eight or nine seasons, and his career as a professional, which commenced in May, 1877, concluded at Scarborough in 1893.
