To the Editor o f C ricket . D e a b S i b ,— Perhaps some particulars of the Copenhagen Cricket Competi tion will be interesting to your readers : The University cricket team (Akade- misk Boldklub) has this year won the competition, as well as last year. O f the five matches the students have won 4 and drawn 1, but in this they made 276 runs for eight wickets (the innings was de clared) against 72 for five wickets. The matches are played under tbe rules for one day matchea. The captain of the team, Mr. Charles Buchwald, has this season played splendid cricket. His performances are as fol low s: 113 not out, 68 not out 85 (b.), 187 not out (Danish record), and 82 (c.). Total 532, average 266. The Danish record was made on July 3rd, and on this very day another player in this city, Mr. P . Petersen, of Copen hagen Boldklub, on his club’s ground, scored 178 not o u t; but the news was brought to the University ground, and the students therefore did not declare until Mr. Buckwald had exceeded this total. The resalt was that although the record was beaten the match was drawn, because there was not time to get all the opponents out. Before this day, July 3rd, the Danish record was 140. This match, played at Frankford on July 2, 4, 5 and 14, gave Frankford the first victory they have had since they entered the Halifax Cup Competition. Germantown was very weak, particularly in bowling, and Frankford scored well mainly through the good batting of R. W. Hilles. On the other side, Shipley went in first wicket down in the second innings and was not out, having scored just on half the runs from the bat. Frankford won by four wickets.
