Played at Chesterfield on June 27, 28 and 29. Notts won by 330 runs. The first day’s cricket in this match was chiefly remarkable for the batting of Iremonger, who fol lowed up his recent fine performances by making 142 in two hours and three-quarters. A. O. Jones, when standiog out of his ground a few inches, had his wicket thrown down by L. G. Wright before he had scored. Day and Hemingway played well, but the tail did very little. When stumps were drawn Derbyshire had made 78 for the loss of half their wickets, Storer being not out 44. On Tuesday Storer only made one more run, but Warren, Morton and Humphries all played so well that the total was only 93 behind that of Notts. In the second innings of Notts Iremonaer and Jones put up 116 for the first wicket. Nobody else did much, and Warren took the last four wickets in two overs. As thing* turned out this sudden breakdown of the Notts tail was bad for Derbyshire, who had to bat for half an hour, and lost seven wickets for 15 runs before stumps were drawn. John Gunn did the hat trickinthe first over. N otts . First innings. A. O.
