Played at Leeds on June 27 and 28. Yorkshire won by 370 runs. On a very soft wicket Yorkshire did pretty well until lunch time on the first day of this match. Jackson playea a great gam®. Be scored 42 out of the first 50 runs, and when he was out he had made 73 out of 97 in an hour and a quart r. Wilkim-on playfd a most usful game, and kept up bis wicket until just before lunch time. Denton also did well. After lunch the remaining eight wickets fell for an additional 63 runs. Hampshire then had the unpleasant experienceoffacing Rhodes and Haigh on a wicket which suited them admirably, and the result was that Yorkshire had a lead of 132, which they increased by 80 before stumps wer^ drawn, without losing a wicket. On Tuesday Tunnicliffe played a fine innings, scoriog at the ra’e of a run a minute, and Denton and Rhodes mtde very useful scores. When theinnings came t<>an end Bampshire had to score 407 runs to win. Ihe/ made a terribly bad commencement. With the first ball of the innings Rhodes took awicket; in the next over—by Baigh—two more wickets fell, an-l ia the third over Rhodes accounted for two more—five wick-ta for 3 runs. Hampshire could never reqover from these disasters, and were beaten in the most decisive manner. yORKSHlRE. First innings. Hon. F. S. Jackson, b H.-Prichard ................ 73 H.
