Cricket 1904

130 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. M at 19, 1904 at Lord’s last year ; he scored 62 and 97, besides taking six wickets in the second innings for 46 runs. The recent success of Mr. Bosanquetin Australia is fresh in the minds of readers of Cricket, and it need not be referred to here. The tour was not by any means the first he had made abroad, for he accompanied Mr. Warner to America and Canada in 1898. and to New Zealand and Australia in 1902. In Australiahebatted and bowled well, and against New South Wales took six wickets for 153 in the second innings which totalled 463. In 1901 he took a team of his own to America, heading the batting averages and being second in the bowling. It is related that during this tour one of his victims was approached by a friendwho asked him how he managed to get out. To which the reply was, “ Waal, that Duke with the Parisian name gave me a real elegant ball, and I thought I would get a start on it, but it put up a joke on me, and the catcher mussed up the wicket.’ ” W.
