In 1902 the average runs per wicket was 22 33 ; in 1903, 22’21. Although the weather interfered with cricket most seriously throughout the whole country, the run-getting on the Nottingham ground proved far higher than in any previous season. So many batting triumphs were accomplished on the Trent Bridge ground that one cannot but conclude that a greater amount of attention has been devoted of late to the wickets there than in earlier years.
