The following are the most important items in the annual report of the com mittee :— Mr. H. G. Owen will again captain the side, and your committee are pleased to take this opportunity of once more ten dering to him the best thanks of the club for his loyal support of his county, and his very able captaincy of the eleven. The committee have to report that Carpenter’s Benefit realised, from gate- money and private subscription lists, over £700. Mr. C. E. Green has again engaged Alfred Shaw, R. Peel and A. Trott to coach the Eleven, and specially selected players, on the County Ground for three weeks, commencing on April 12th. The roll of members on December 31st last stood at 1,618 gentlemen and 145 ladies. This is a serious falling off, which is much to be regretted, and your committee earnestly appeal to all those who are interested in the welfare of the club to endeavour to obtain new members. The arrangements for trains stand as heretofore, viz , the Great Eastern Rail way Company will run a special express train to Leyton on all county match days, leaving Liverpool Street at two o’clock and arriving at Leyton at 2.12, in addition to which the 3.35 train will stop at Leyton at 3.45 These trains will not run on the second eleven match days. On the occasion of the match against the Australians, special trains from Liverpool Street will be run as required. Toe annual general meeting will be held in the Pavilion, at Leyton, on Wed nesday, April 23rd. The following bowlers have been engaged for the season, viz., Sewell, Inns, Reeves, Tremlin, Buckenham, E. Russell and E. J. Freeman. * Signifies not out.
