S ta tis tic s showed th a t had be n 30,000 fe w e r m em bers pu b lio throu g h th e gates at L o r com pared w ith 1901. Later, on the subject of reform, Mr. Lacey said hat it was a significant fact that the scoring had gone up by leaps and bounds, and the attitudes and dress (as they could see from the pictures on the wall) had entirely changed. In former times the ball held the supremacy over t e bat ; now the bat was master of the ball. He could not say in what par ticular direction, but there could be little doubt that in the near future reform would be desirable, and that legislation, grea r little, would be required to place batsmen and bowler on more equal terms.
