This inter-state match was played at Sydney on January 26th, 27th and 28th, though both sides were weakened owing to the absence of the players who had taken part in the test match the week before. Still the result was an interesting game, Victoria after being 176 behind on the first innings only losing by 50 runs. Hopkins and Gregory put on 165 for the Erst wicket at the opening of the match. Commencing the fourth innings, Worrall and Warne made 154 before they were separated. In the first innings of New South Wales the last six wickets fell for 17 runs. Saunders took eleven New South Wales wickets for 130 runs. N ew S o u th W a l e s . First innings A . J. Hopkins, c Carlton, b W am e ...........................117 C.
