As this match was begun on Ash Wednesday, a public holiday in Jamaica, there was a very big crowd to see the play. As in the previous matches in Jamaica, the Englishmen drew lots for their order of going in, occasionally with somewhat surprising results. Every man on the side made double figures in this match except Mr. Dillon, who went in last. Naturally, the tail distinguished itself, since it included some of the best players on the side. At the end of the day the Jamaicans had scored 120 for the loss of seven wickets. On the next morning Mr. G. C. Linton, who was not afraid to hit Mr. Dowson’s bowling, scored 60 in excellent style, but despite his efforts, the Englishmen had such a big lead on the first innings that they were able to declare in the second innings when the total was 134 for three wickets. Mr. Blaker and Mr. Fane each made over fifty by bold cricket. With 259 to make to win, the Jamaicans never looked like pulling off the match, Mr. Dowson once more being a thorn in their side. THE RETURN MATCH AGAINST ALL JAMAICA. ( se v e n th of th e to u r .) Played at Sabina Park on Feb. 14 and 15. The Englishmen won by an innings and 68 runs. Again the visitors won the toss and again they all scored double figures except one man. The only outstanding innings was the 74 by Mr. Hollins. Except that Barton, as usual, played a most steady innings, and that Snow and Mr. Kerr showed fine cricket, the Jamaicans did not do^themselves justice with the bat. E nglish X I. E. W . Played at Black River, Jamaica, on Feb. 18 and 19. The Englishmen won by an innings and 121 runs. For once, the visitors lost the toss, but easily dismissed their opponents, of whom alone the captain, Mr. F. H. Farquhar- son, was able to do himself justice. By the time that stumps were drawn, the Englishmen had made 292 for seven wickets, a happy state of affairs which was chiefly due to brilliant cricket by Mr. Dowson, and a very fine innings by Mr. Dashwood. On the next morning the score was raised to 330. The home team did much better in their second innings, Dy. Farquharson playiDg a very sound game for 41. First innings. Second innings. O. M. R. W . ( n in t h o f t h e t o u r .) Played at Sabina Park on February 21 and 22. The Englishmen won by an innings and 82 runs. The combined team, which consisted of representatives of the United Service and Jamaica, did not make enough runs in the first innings to leave any hope for success. Lieut. Rowe and the redoubt able Snow did well. Fine cricket was played for the Englishmen by Mr. Bosan quet, Mr. "Wilson and Mr. Dillon, and the result was a lead of 154 on the first innings. This proved to be entirely prohibitive to the West Indian team, who
