Cricket 1902
M a t 1, 1902. CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OE THE GAME. 103 play in most of the county matches. A. J. MacGregor is also a very good batsman as well as a smart wicket keeper. Yernon, who was last year on the Old Trafford ground staff, is credited with being the fastest bowler in Lanca shire, not even excepting Mold. He was, I may add, offered an engagement in South Africa by Mr. Murray Biseet. Great credit is due to the promoters generally, and to Mr. R. MacGregor Mitchell and Mr. A. K. Bell, particularly for having taken up the matter, and in so thorough a manner. That their efforts may be crowned with success, will be the wish of all who have the true interests of Scottish cricket at heart. SCOTTISH COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES 1902. MAY. Cupar, Fifeshire v. British Guiana won "by four wickets. Incessant rain before this match began turned the wicket into a sort of mud heap which afterwards dried and became very difficult. Consequently the bowlers had matters nearly all their own way, Woods and Burton being very destructive for the home team and Nicholson for the visitors. The only big innings of the match was played by Mr. E. R. D. Moulder for British Guiana, and he deserves the very greatest credit .for his fine performance in making 64. When British Guiana went in to make 67 runs they seemed in a fair way to be beaten, so difficult was the wicket, butWoods played a bold and determined innings and practically won the match for his side. British Guiana won by four wickets. Rain again played a prominent part in this match, and the wicket was sometimes very difficult. The Englishmen made a fine effort to pull the match out of the fire, but Mr. Moulder was again a thorn in their side, playing excellent cricket in both innings. His second innings, when his companions were falling rapidly, was a masterpiece. E n g lish T eam . First innings. Second innings. E.W . Dillon, c W .
