The cricket season in Cape Town was opened on Monday the 7th inst. with the above match under the most favourable auspices. The eleven included two of the South African team just returned from England—L. J. Tancred and Murray Bisset. The former played well, but the highest scorer was Chiappini with a thoroughly well-played 58. The best bowling of the match was that of Smith, who took six wickets of the Colts at a cost of 19 runs.
