316 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. A u g . 1, 1901. satisfaction in American cricket circles. The International Committee, which has it head-quarters in Philadelphia, has, according to a Reuter’s telegram, officially ratified the arrangements suggested from this side. Hence the tour may now be considered an accomplished fact. H. C. M c D o n e l l , the Winchester cap tain, is to make his first appearance in county cricket at Southampton to-day for Surrey against Hampshire. He is a slow bowler and on his school form decidedly above the average. An unfor tunate injury while practising at Lord’s just before the match prevented him this year assisting Winchester against Eton— it need hardly be added to the great detriment of the Wykehamists, who were beaten by two wickets.
