3 0 4 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. J u l y 2 5 , 1 9 0 1 . THE ARTISTS’ CRICKET WEEK. The fourth season of the Artists’ Cricket Club closed with the week commencing July 8th. The cricketing artists, all of ■whom were painters, were the guests of Mr. Edwin A. Abbey, R.A., and the matches were played on his beautiful ground at Fairford, Gloucestershire. The Artists met some strong elevens. They won 1, drew 1, and lost 3 matches. The best scores for the A.C.C. were : A. H. Studd, 80; F. C. Batson, 55; L. D. Luard, 30; G. H. Swinstead, 75; and D. O’Brien, 30. G. Hillyard Swinstead took twenty-one wickets in the five matches, Dermod O’Brien twelve, and Amesby Brown eight. For the Visitors the best scores were : H. F. Fox, 96; F. S. Gaekwar, not out, 65; F. H. Fowler, 83; A. M. Miller, 29; Rev. J. H. Swinstead, 45 ; W . B. Thomas, 61; F. H. French, 49; and L. Potter, 54. During their season the Artists played 14 matches, w<n 7, lost 5, drawn 2. The aggregate number of runs scored by the A.C.C. was 2,563; opponents, 2,418.
