J u n e 2 0 , 1 9 0 1 . CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME 2 1 1 then. But my friends always chaff me about my bow ling, so that I don’t suppose I shall ever do any good with it. For all that I think bow ling even more fascinat ing than batting, for it is much harder to bowl decently than to bat well. Mr. Beldam has played g o lf in the winter months, and belongs to the Acton and M id-Surrey clubs. H is experience is that, if anything, g o lf helps one’s cricket, but that cricket is fatal to golf. He is passionately fond of it, and rejoices in turn when the cricket season ends and golf begins, and vice versa. After the cricket season is over be finds it a pleasant change to have a month’s painting, for, as he expresses it, he “ dabbles in water colours,” but as be has had his pictures on the line in the Dudley Gallery, it is evident that other artists appreciate his work.
