The W eek begins on Thursday next, September 6th, with a match between N orth and South, while Surrey and Sussex v. Rest of England follows on M ond ay, September 10th. Stout “ Tourist,” who has been j ut on to bow l for the second time in his life, has been throw ing occasionally, and not having been no-balled is very proud of the fact. H e chips his own umpire after the innings on his incompetence. To him replies the pro., “ W ell, M r . --------, I did notice ye a throwin* ’em now an agen, but ye see, sir, I make it a rule never to n o-ball a gentleman for throwin* in this class o f cricket (long pause) unless ’e looks like takin’ a w ick et! (Exit hastily to roll the pitch.) I t seems almost certain that no more names w ill be found this year on the list of scorers of two thousand runs, and we fancy that K . S. Ranjitsinhji, C . B . F ry, A b el and H ayw ard w ill not be disturbed in their position of honour. A l b e r t T ro tt has n ow taken 200 w ickets and scored 1,072 runs. A l l honour to the Champion County of 1900.
