An interesting brochure, limited to fifty copies, entitled “ Ireland’s Gardens and Its Cricket Associations,” has re cently been issued for private circulation. Tae author is Mr. Alired D. Taylor, of Brighton, who, in the thirty-five pages contained in the pamphlet, gives an interesting account of the matches played on the ground from 1823 until 1847, when the cricket history of Ireland’s G»rdens terminates. A faithful repre sentation of this ground can be seen in W. H. Mason’s picture entitled “ Kent v. Sussex.” On page 17 of his booklet Mr. Taylor states that some time ago he came across the scores of a match between Sussex andE nglaud, contested on Ireland’s Gardens in 1835 or 1836, when Susses proved victorious by 7 runs. The scores were: England, 93 and 176; Sussex, 140 and 122. This match is not included in Scores and Biographies, nor does the score appear to have been published in Bell's Life. I am indebted to Mr. Taylor for the score of the match, which is appeud-i 1 : Ou Ireland’s Gardens, Krightou, about 1835 or 1836. Esq. Total,. Total ...161 W. Mynn, white ........... A.
