Good batting by Charltsworth. Lilley, and Kinneir enabled Warwickshire, on a fairly easy wicket, to make a re isonahly good score, but by ihe close of the first day Yorkshire had made a very good start, and were only 147 runs 1ehind wiih eight wickets in hand. Denton was not out 32 and Birt-t not out 15. On Tuesday Yoikshire went ahead and had a lead of 131 on the first innings, thanks to some fine play by Denton, Hiist, Mr. Ernest Smith, Haigh, Rhodes, and Whitehead. Warwick'hire le ja n their second innings very well indeed, Kinneir and Mr. Fishwick putting on 117 for the first wicket, the former being dismi-sed just before time. Yesterday Mr. Fishwick continued to play fine cricket, and was well backed up by Lilley, Santall, Mr. Bainbridge. and Walter Quaife, with the result that there was no time for Yorkshire to win, even if they had been able to do so.
