Members .—The limit imposed by the rules—viz., 2,500—has now been reached, and with country and junior members the number on the rolls is 3,372. From entrance fees £891 9s. was received, and from subscriptions £6 200 15s. 6d.—a substantial increase on last year’s figures. Sports .—From various sports meetings the net receipts were £366. The com mittee have had under consideration the advisability of giving encouragement to amateur athletics, and recommend this subject to their successors. Net Receipts .—The sumof £8,396 8s. 51. has heen received for the season. Expenditure .—In many of the items on this side of the account a saving is shown, the ground account being £208 Us. lOd. less than for last year, and appreciable reductionsare apparent in other accounts. A sum of £652 2j. 6d. has been spent in wages, £55 2s. 3d. in seed, and for new soil £77 18s. The embankment round the ground has been placed in thorough order by top-dressing and asphalting, and the comfort of the public has been also studied in the renewal of the present seating, and the erection of rows of additional seats. Expenses o f Matches .—An effort has been made to encourage country cricket, by the visits of teams to and from a number of country towns, and, the ex penditure under this head shows an increase in consequence of £98 8s. General Statement .—The total liabilities of the Club amount to £15,877 13s. 3d., extending over a period of twelve years ; and the assets in hand, under the control of the committee, come to £2,608 (totally irrespective of the extensive plant, etc.), which include Melbourne and Metro- polition Board of Works Debentures and accrued interest; while the Sinking Fund Account has reached £2,278 14s. lid., all showing that the club is keeping good faith with the debenture holders. Warehousemen's Ground .— Additional practice wickets have been made, many improvements effected and this ground will be in first-class order during the coming season. Several professional bowlers will be in regular attendance, and it is hoped members will take ad vantage of the additional convenience for practice now offered to them. ISe x t English Eleven. — In connection with the visit of the next English eleven to Australia, your committee have to report that the trustees of the Sydney Cricket Ground having desired to cease co-operating as partners, this club has determined on undertaking that project single-handed, and the necessary steps are now in course of progress in England with that object. The committee recog nising that such a course is both ex pedient and just in the interests of cricket, have proposed to surrender one half of the net profits of the tour to the three colonies—New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria—and lock with confidence to the members of the club to confirm that proceeding. Cricket. — Although the club has not played so many matches as in the pre-
