Cricket 1899
O c t. 26. 1899. CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 447 Africa. In view of complications in Cape Colony, Smith this time went out well armed. Even now he may be already on his way to join hands with another cricketer, F. W. Milligan, who is with Colonel BadenPowell at Mafeking. Who knows ? P. W. M ay , a youngster who showed very promising cricket for the Surrey Colts last summer, did a remarkable per formance for the Thorpe St. Mary’s C.C. (Chertsey). During the season he took 144 wickets at a cost of 5'20 apiece. Not a bad record for a boy only fifteen last March. Of the 144 wickets, too, no less than 91 were bowled.
