(From the Hove Gazette ) In view of the successful season expe rienced this year by the Sussex County Cricket Club, it may prove of interest to point out the records they have broken. 1. Most matches played in a season, the number being 26; thus beating the 25 contested in 1897. 2. Most inter-county matches played in a season, 22 ; beating the 20 fought in 1897 and 1898. 3. Most runs scored in a season, the total being 11,489 for 401 wickets ; beat ing the 10,054 tor 406 wickets obtained in 1897. 4. Most tbree-figure partnerships—24. 5. Most partnerships of over 200— three. 6. Record partnership : 325 by K. S. Ranjitsinhji andG. Brann against Surrey, at the Oval, for the second wicket; beat ing the 303 by G. L. Wilson and Marlow, against Oxford Univer-ity, in 1895. 7. Most centuries for Sussex—19. The previous best was 14, hit in 1896. 8. Highest innings hit against Surrey and the Australians. 9. The whole ten wickets in an innings, as captured by C. Bland, against Kent, at Tonbridge. The previous best was nine for 24 by F. Tate, against Hants, in 1891. 10. Record attendance for one day. Over 8,800 paid for admission on Whit Monday, while 11,000 witnessed the play; thus beating the Whit Monday of 1895. 11. Record attendance for a match. 15,500 witnessed the Australian match, while 12,519 paid one shilling for admis sion. The turnstiles registered 4,743 on the first day, 5,339 on the second, and 2,437 on the third. 12. Record collection at Hove, £51 7s. 9d. being collected for Killick in the Sussex v.
