Cricket 1899
C R IC K E T : A W E E K L Y R E C O R D O f T H E G A M E . J u l y 13, 1899. 97. Fry’s innings of 162 not out, must rank as one of the best he has yet played. His timing throughout was perfect, and during the last hour he hit with marvellous brilliancy. Tyldesley’s score of 249 is the second largest score ever made for his county, the largest being Mr. MacLaren’s wonderful 424 against Somersetshire in 1895. This is the second time Tyldesley has reached the two hundred in first-class cricket, the previous occasion being against Derbyshire last year at Old Trafford, when he scored exactly 200. Of late he has not been making many large scores, so his last innings must have proved very welcome to Lancashire enthusiasts. This week I reproduce the score of a match in which Mr. C. Absolon had a hand in getting all twenty wickets of his opponents. Mr. Absolon’s age at the time was fifty-five. A t W ood Green, July 4, 1872. U n ited W ille b d e n . First innings. In a match at Melbourne, October 15 h and 22nd, 1887, between Erskine and Deaf Mutes, J. Bryant, playing for the former, clean bowled all tweuty wicket* of the latter. FOREST H ILL CRICKET WEEK.
