Hits. 62 27 60 40 8 5 106 77 Lambert (and Osbaldeston) winning ty 15 runs. After being excluded from Lord’s and the great matches, Lambert continued to participate in minor matches in Surrey ti'l he was about sixty years of age. His last recorded match was played at Worth, near Crawley, in 1839. He resided all his life at Nut field, in Surrey, the birthplace of Martingel1, and was by profession a miller. He died at Nutfield, April 19, 1851, aged 72, and is buried at Burstow. As far as one can gather from a perusal of old scores, Lambert’s first success was obtained in a single-wicket match played in September, 1800. Playing for Two against Three he scored 24 and 75 towards totals of 27 and 77, and obtained five of the six wickets of his Opponents. As the Two won by 35 runs it can be seen how much Lambert had to do with the result, His first appearance at Lord’s was for Surrey against England, on July 20ch, 1801, upon which occasion he was dis missed for scores of 0 and 5. His scores in subsequent matches, however, were very large, as the following list will show:— 107* \ Sussex (with Mr. G. Osbaldeston and W . Lam- 157 j bert) v.
