It was impossible to play cricket at Manchester on Monday, and on Tuesday the commencement of the game was postponed until after luncheon. Hamp shire went in and made anything but a good begin ning or a good finish to the innings, but Barton and Lieutenant Sprot did well in the middle o f it. Before stumps were drawn Lancashire had managed to make a particularly bad start, three good men being out for 2 Yesterday Tyldesley and Cuttell were able to put a much better appearance on the game, and when the innings closed their side was only 21 runs behind. Theie was no chance of finishing the match when Hampshire went in. H am psh ire . First innings. 0, G. W »rd run o u t ........... 0 Barton, b « uttell........... KENT\ Played at Catford Bridge on May 15,16 and 17. Drawn. Rain interfered considerably with this match. There was no play before lunch, and afterwards the Notts men had to bowl with a wet ball. They did fairly well to get rid of Kent for 157, and but for the excellent batting of S. H. Day, who e 63 runs were made in a little over two houis, they would pro! ably have disposed of them for a ver/ small total. The first four Kent men who were out were all caught at the wicket by Oates. W ith their usual la d luck, Notts had to bat for a couple of minutes, and in that time lost Oates for two runs. On Tuesday it was only possible to play for a very short time, during which things went badly for Notts. When the game was abandoned for the day the total was 29 for two wickets. The rain greatly curtailed play yesterday. After a not very good beg.nning, bhrewsbury and Gunn became well set, and showed some remarkably good cricket, Shrewsbury being in very great form. On Tuesday inoruiug Cua.tter.oa, tiudi g the rest of the team in difficulties, forced the game wi h much success. Warwickshire began wellagains: the weak Derbyshire howling, but ihe tail collapsed.
