Played at Trent Bridge on May, 8, 9, and 10. Drawn. When A. 0. Jones, Shrewsbury, Gunn, and Attewell were all out for 40 runs there was not much prospect that the total would be what is known as “ respectable.” But Mr. Dixon proved a stumbling-block in the way of the Lancashire bowlers, and J. Gunn played a very pretty innings, the two men putting on 109 in partnership. An unex pected stand was made for the last wicket, which produced 64 runs in fifty minutes, so that the total was really very satisfactory. J. L. Ainsworth Jollowed up his fine bowling against Warwickshire by taking six wickets for 84. Lancashire had a bad three-quarters of an hour before stumps were drawn, losing three wickets for 45. On Tuesday rain fell and there was no play. Lancashire fared badly on Wednesday morning, and did not begin too well in the follow on. But when Ward and Baker came together the arrears were knocked off, and once more Notts were let in for a drawn game. N otts . A. O.
