100 CRICKET A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. M a y 4, 1899. support such an excellent production. The two issues which did appear were worthy of all praise. Cannot Mr. Davis be prevailed upon to try his fortune once more ? From Hammett and Co., of North Street, Taunton, comes the “ Somerset County Cricket Club Book for 1898,” which deals with the o ick e t played by the county last season. The book, which is compiled by W . T. Webb, scorer to the county club, consists of fifty-eight pages and is published at one shilling. Two small twopenny guides, the “ Barnsley and District Cricket Guide” and the “ West Riding Cricket Guide,” come to hand from the New Street Printing Works, Barnsley. Both contain much information dealing with the game in Yorkshire, in addition to chapters dealing with records and curiosities. Compiled by Mr. J. N. Pentelow, and published at 2•ri, Temple Chambers, E.C., the “ Cricket Directory for 1899 ” has just made its appearance. The book, now in its eleventh year, contains the names and addresses of the secretaries to the County, Univer sity, Public School, and all the principal clubs. The publishing price is sixpence. Prom time to time (not necessarily every week) I intend giving in these columns the scores of curious matches or o f matches in which noteworthy per formances have been achieved. The follow ing match is the only one of its kind ever played in New Zealand- The fam ily eleven consisted of Mr. H . Harra- way and ten sons. I t is said that Mr. Harraway has over twenty children, and could, if necessary, put a twenty-two into the field. F or the score I am in debted to Mr. Jas. Hutchison, of O ta g o : At Carisbrook, New Zealand. November 30, 1898. P ollard ’ s O pe r a C om pany . H.Gleeson, bG . HarraG.W alker, b J .
