Played at Livingston cn Sept. 21 and 22. Mr. Warner’s Team won by an innings and 247 runs. Cricketers inNewYork have still much to learn at all points <f the game, and il was not for a moment expected that the) w<uld be able to give muchof anaccount of themselves againstMr. Warner’s team. They had the good fortune to win the tcss, and batted on awicket which played pretty well duiing the short time that they were in, though it crumbled con siderably liter in the diy. Bat the New Yorkerswere helpless against thebowling of Ainsworth and Bjsanquet. The Eng lishmen, finding the bowling against them to be of a moderate cluss, scored runs at about the rate of a hundred per hour. Milchell’s innings of 66 was greatly adujiied by New York connoisseur?. Burnup also played very fine cricket, and Bray made over 80 in about a hour. Against the large total made by the visitors, the home team had absolutely no chance of winning, but in the second inniDgs C. H. Clark and A. T. Rokeby showed that, with practice against good bowling, they would speedily become excellent batsmen. N ew Y ork . First inning-*. Second icninga. M . R . WARNER’S TEAM v. PHILA DELPHIANS (Return). SEVENTH MATCH OF THE TOUR. Played at Manheim on September 30, October 1 and 3. Mr. Warner’s Team won by 4 wickets. With the firm determination to avfnge their defeat in the first match the Phila delphians began their innings with boldness, and for come time it seemed probable that they wi uld run up a big sccre. Graves, a colt, who had done veiy well during the season, batted in excellent style and was seemingly set for a lorg score when he was run out by a mistake, for which reithir he nor his partner was to blame. The fielding of the Englishmen during the early part of the innings was by no means remarkable for its brilliance. Brown, Noble and King all batted well, and when the hundred was nearly approached oily N E X T ISSUE, T HURSDA Y , NOVEMBER 24.
