The dinner was held at the Caf£ Monioo, on October 13th, to ce’.ebrate the twenty-first year of the club’s existence. The chair was taken by one of our oldest members, Mr. Cecil Braithwaite, and to him fell the lot of proposing the toast of the evening, “ The Nondescripts Cricket Club.” Prom (lie very doubtful manner in which Mr. Braithwaite announced that “ he believed the club was formed in about the ye.u IS1??” we began to have douh!s as t.> why we were present at our “ coniing-of- age” dinner, andwhether the whole thing was not a fraud. However, his sketch of the club’s rise from the long-defunct Rosslyn ParkCricket Club, whose grouad was on “ ’Appy ’Ampstead ’Eith,” to its 1 resent position as a popular wandering club, was eminently satisfactory. The secretary responded (the honourable. secretary, the toastmaster called him), and gave some statistics of our doings during his eleven years of office, Mr. Marsden’s efforts for the club being vouched for by his total of 460 wickets for 10 runs each. The statement as to our victories and losses was received with ironical cheers, but, as a matter of fact, the Nondescripts lay themselves out for a good time, and welcome the sweets of victory rather as an incidental than as a necessary feature of their programme. Mr. J. G. Q. Besch proposed the toast of the officers, whose virtues he described N E X T ISSUE, T HUR SDA Y , NOVEMBER 24.
