436 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. S ept . 22, 1898. MR. WARNER’S TEAM IN AMERICA. THE GENTLEMEN OF ONTARIO MATCH ( continued ). SECOND MATCH OF THE TOUR. Played at Toronto on Sept. 12, 13 and 14. Mr. Warner’s Team won by an innings and 140 runs. On the second day of this match the Ontario Gentlemenhad made 100 for four wickets in their second innings, and were hopelessly in the rear. They increased the score to 164. (Goldingham 48, Lyon 28.) THE GENTLEMEN OF PHILADELPHIA MATCH. THIRD MATCH OF THE TOUR. Played at Wissahickon on Sept. 16 and 17. Mr. Warner’s Team won by eight wickets. The Philadelphians, who won the toss, were all out for 94. OwiDg to the illness of Mr. Penn and Mr. Burnup, it was found necessary to include a substitute (Evans) in the English team. Seven of the Philadelphians fell to the bowling of Ainsworth, theMarlborough College boy. The small total of the Philadelphians, on a difficult wicket, was larger than that made by the visitors, who were all out for 84 (P. F. Warner 25, Bosanquet 20, and Mitchell 21). In the second in n iD g s the Philadelphians collapsed, being all out for 59. Clarke, Wood, King, and Brown each made double figures. With 70 to make theEnglishmen soon knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets, Mr. Mitchell 20 not out, and Mr. Sewell 27 not out. CRICKET AT POONA. I O R D SA N D H U K ST ’S X I . v.
